Although the temperature outside might suggest differently, the calendar in my office lets me know that it is the end of August. Which means fall is on the way, and with it, the beginning of a new program year at AHCC. We will open our new year on Sunday, September 9 with Homecoming Sunday, when we will worship together at 10:15am and then head out to our church’s parking lot for a good ol’ family reunion celebration! Friends, You Belong Here and I can’t wait to see you.
What’s cooking on the worship front this fall? On Sunday, September 16 we will debut a new worship series entitled, “Many Gifts, Many Members, One Body” which will take us all the way through the fall. I Corinthians 12 talks about the many different gifts that the Holy Spirit bestows upon God’s people. Not only will we spend 12 weeks celebrating the many manifestations of who we are as a community of faith, we will also have the opportunity to hear from members of our family who have put their gifts into faithful action!
The worship team is working hard to create experiences which will be meaningful and transformative. We know you are not going to want to miss what’s in store! So get ready for an “awe”-some new program year, and remember … INVITE OTHERS to come and experience it too!
I am looking forward to all the new possibilities God has in store for us. May each of you sense the Spirit’s joy and peace in the days to come.
Here’s what we are we celebrating in worship in September and what spiritual gifts will we focus on:
