Men's Group presents Friends Matter

October 19, 2019 - 8:30am to 12:00pm

What is the fastest growing health epidemic facing men? Loneliness. Friendships aren’t just nice to have, they are vital to life. Our 21st century lifestyle works against the start and growth of friendships. Technology, social media, on-demand media and the 24-hour intrusion of work have removed times and places for friendship. Political polarization and the tribalism it has caused have cut in half the population of potential friends.

The Men’s Fellowship of AHCC has conceived of and is sponsoring a major event, not just for the members of AHCC but for all of Greater Hartford, where we will address these issues and begin to form a community that will create experiences that encourage friendships. We will come together for a full morning workshop facilitated by the outstanding team of Rev. Dr. Allen Hilton and our good friend Brent Robertson, Co-founder of Fathom. We are honored to have two community sponsors of this event: Inter-community Health Care and Fathom. The workshop will be focused on the loneliness of men, but it is open to all who share our concern and who would like to be in community with others who will leave the workshop with ideas and action plans for addressing this epidemic. Admission is free, with a suggested donation of $20 per person to help defray the expenses of the event. To register, click here.
