June Day

June lived in Dunellen, NJ from birth until she got married and moved to Hartford's West End. She graduated from Westminster Choir College in Princeton with a Bachelor of Music degree (organ and voice) and continued working in her father's company, N.J. Fire Equipment Corp. where they sold fire engines and fire-related equipment. Later she served on the Board of Directors of the company for several years. While working there, she was also employed as a church organist and taught piano and organ. After moving to Hartford, June became Associate Organist and Choir Director at Asylum Hill Church from 1968 to 1976, then served Elmwood Community Church in W. Hartford as Organist/Choir Director for ten years, while working part time in the office at AHCC. Eventually, June served as secretary to the senior minister for 20 years. Now she assists the pastors in the Caring Ministry of the church.

As the Pastoral Care Associate June visits with and makes phone calls to individuals requiring care and comfort, sends sympathy cards for families who have lost loved ones and birthday cards to all members 80 and older. She is also responsible for organizing the Soup Group and coordinates delivery to those in need. June provides Lay Sacramental Ministry as needed. June loves animals and enjoys travel (especially aboard a ship), photography, friendships, concerts, operas, nature, solar eclipses, movies and her present position here at AHCC. She believes this will be the last of the many hats she has worn here at AHCC, but then … you never know!
