Andy Williams’ 1963 holiday hit “It’s the Most Wonderful Time of the Year” portrays an idyllic season where all are happy and of good cheer, where parties and friends and reminiscing abound, where jingle bells and carols and mistletoe are everywhere.
The Greater Hartford Interfaith Action Alliance (GHIAA) was officially launched on October 28 with 1400 people in attendance. Thirty-eight members of AHCC were there to witness and celebrate this historic moment where faith-based organizations pledged close to $135,000 for fiscal year 2020 to support GHIAA.
This Advent, we will be displaying Nativity sets from around the world. We have sets representing Bolivia, Ecuador, Haiti, Peru, Tanzania, and Vietnam. If you have a tabletop set to add to the display, please bring it to the front office, clearly labeled with your name and the country it represents. You may pick it up at church on Sun, Jan. 19.
In July 2015, I was attending a wedding on Lesbos Island in Greece when I discovered that we were staying at the very site where Syrian refugees were landing every night on dangerous and leaky rafts. Those who survived the journey faced a hot and dangerous walk in Mediterranean heat across the island to a camp that was totally unprepared for them.
